Appifyro built the Text Scanner app as a free productivity application. This app is designed to help users extract text from images using the device camera or gallery and manage scanned text history locally on the device.

Information Collection and Use

Text Scanner does not collect or store any personal information on external servers.

All data generated by the app is stored locally on your device only.

Data handled by the app:

Images selected from the gallery or captured using the camera (processed only for text extraction)
Extracted text saved locally for history management
App usage data stored locally for app functionality

The app does not upload, share, or transmit this data to any server.

Permissions Used

Text Scanner requires the following permissions to function properly:

Camera Permission

android.permission.CAMERA

Used to capture images for scanning text.
Camera access is used only when the user chooses to scan text using the camera.

Camera Hardware Feature

android.hardware.camera.any (not required)

Allows the app to run on devices without a camera.
Camera is optional and not mandatory.

Gallery / Media Access Permission

Used to select images from the device gallery for text extraction.
The app accesses only the image selected by the user.

⚠️ The app does not access files, images, or media without user action.

Local Data Storage (Room Database)

Extracted text history is stored using Room local database.
All data remains on the user’s device.
Users can clear or delete scanned history at any time from the app.

Data Sharing

Internet Usage

The app does not require an internet connection for core features.
Text extraction works offline depending on the OCR engine used on the device.
